Kitten Or Puppy: Who Would Suit You Best?
There are two kinds of people when it comes to pets: cat lovers & dog lovers. The debate around which of the two is better is an everlasting one and there may actually never be a clear winner.
However, the number of compelling arguments from each side are quite strong. The number of options we have when it comes to having house pets are several, but cats and dogs get away with a majority of votes. If you are ready to choose between a puppy or a kitten, then read on below.
Who’s a Needy Boo?
One of the most important points to understand when looking to choose between a kitten and a puppy is that they both have different kinds of needs. And it is here that we burst a common myth about cats. Many people are of the opinion that cats require less stuff when compared to dogs. This, however, is not true. To take proper care of a cat, you need a litter box and good quality food so that they can grow into a strong and healthy cat. As for puppy care, apart from getting them a comfortable bed, you also need to invest in the right dog toys and good quality dog food.
Needs sometimes also imply emotional needs. So who out of the two is said to be more emotionally dependent? Well, here, puppies win! (if you want to look at it pawsitively!) Since puppies need more care which is inclusive of regular walking and exercise, they tend to get more attached to their caregivers and prefer to be around them more. As for the cats, they are more emotionally independent. Although, this does not in any way imply that they do not want you. if you leave your cat alone for too long, they might develop separation anxiety too. They are just more independent in terms of exercise and care.
Before you take the plunge of deciding between the two, it is advised that you take a close look at your lifestyle. If your work requires you to be away for long hours, then between a puppy or kitten, a kitten is the safer choice.
Chomp Chomp!
There is an enormous difference in the feeding patterns of puppies and kittens, due to the larger size of puppies. The requirements may vary depending upon the breed you choose. As a general rule, a kitten should be fed only twice a day whereas a puppy should be fed a minimum of 3 to 5 times a day depending upon the breed and age.
Overall, when it comes to the feeding pattern between a puppy or kitten, a puppy needs more attention. Since a kitten eats much less as compared to a puppy, the kitten owners spend much less on food than puppy owners.
Wuff! Or Meow! Who Comes Home?
Puppies are great companions and become a much bigger part of the family. This is due to the love and affection they have and the ability to love their caregivers unconditionally. Puppies are also used as service animals to people who need comfort and companionship. Certain large breeds who are strong and big enough are used to help other abled persons as well.
In comparison with kittens, puppies are able to develop a better understanding of commands and this is one of the reasons why they are considered better behaved than kittens too. On the other hand, kittens are more self-reliant and quiet.
Whether you should bring a puppy or a kitten home, largely depends on how you feel about the individual traits of these pets and your lifestyle. If there is a right answer, then it is ‘Bring them both & become a super pawsome pet parent.’
In essence, whether you choose a puppy or kitten, you must ensure that you give them the love and care that they require.
