Drontal Plus is a broad-spectrum, single-dose dewormer tablet for dogs and puppies that removes tapeworms, roundworms, hookworms and whipworms in one treatment.
Composition: Combination of Praziquantel, Pyrantel Pamoate (Embonate) and Febantel - exact per-tablet strength depends on the pack size (small/medium/large dog tablets); confirm against the current label.
Indications: ย Removal of tapeworms (e.g., Dipylidium caninum, Taenia species, Echinococcus), roundworms (Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina), hookworms (Ancylostoma caninum, Uncinaria stenocephala) and whipworms (Trichuris vulpis) in dogs and puppies.
Dosage: 1 tablet per 10kg body weight as a single dose, or as directed by the vet; retreatment may be needed every 3 months or per the vet's deworming schedule.
Directions for use: Give directly by hand or hidden in a small amount of food. Fasting is not required before or after dosing.
How does the medicine work? : Praziquantel damages the tapeworm's outer covering so it disintegrates and is expelled; pyrantel pamoate causes spastic paralysis in hookworms/roundworms; febantel disrupts the energy metabolism of nematodes including whipworms - together clearing all four common worm types.
Possible side effects: Generally well tolerated; mild vomiting or soft stools can occur. Do not use in pregnant dogs (safety not established) unless specifically directed by the vet.
