Opthocare PD combines an antibiotic and a corticosteroid to treat bacterial eye infections in dogs and cats where inflammation is also present.
Composition: Moxifloxacin (fluoroquinolone antibiotic) and Prednisolone Acetate (corticosteroid).
Indications: Bacterial eye infections accompanied by inflammation, such as conjunctivitis with swelling or redness.
Dosage: As recommended by the vet - typically 1-2 drops in the affected eye(s), 2-3 times daily.
Directions for Use: Gently pull down the lower eyelid and instil the drops into the conjunctival sac, avoiding contact between the dropper tip and the eye.
How does the medicine work?: Moxifloxacin clears the bacterial infection by blocking DNA replication, while prednisolone acetate reduces the accompanying inflammation and discomfort.
Possible side effects: Do not use if a corneal ulcer is suspected without vet confirmation, as corticosteroids can worsen certain types of corneal damage.
