Opthocare XT is a dual-action anti-glaucoma eye drop that lowers elevated intraocular pressure, used in the management of primary and secondary glaucoma in dogs and cats.
Composition: Dorzolamide 2% w/v (carbonic anhydrase inhibitor) and Timolol 0.5% w/v (non-selective beta-blocker).
Indications: Primary and secondary glaucoma; management of elevated intraocular pressure.
Dosage: As recommended by the vet - typically 1-2 drops in the affected eye(s), 2-3 times daily.
Directions for Use: Gently pull down the lower eyelid and instil the drops into the conjunctival sac, avoiding contact between the dropper tip and the eye.
How does the medicine work?: Dorzolamide and timolol both reduce the production of aqueous humor (the fluid inside the eye) through different mechanisms, lowering intraocular pressure and helping protect the optic nerve from glaucoma-related damage.
Possible side effects: Glaucoma is a sight-threatening emergency requiring prompt, ongoing veterinary monitoring - this product should only be used under active vet supervision with regular eye-pressure checks, not as a standalone home remedy.
