Zedox Oral Suspension is a broad-spectrum tetracycline-class antibiotic used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections in dogs and cats, including respiratory, urinary, skin and tick-borne infections.
Composition: Doxycycline Monohydrate USP equivalent to Doxycycline (anhydrous) 50mg per 5ml (10mg/ml after reconstitution), in a flavoured syrup base.
Indications: Respiratory infections (bronchitis, pneumonia); urinary tract infections; skin and wound infections; tick-borne infections such as ehrlichiosis and Lyme disease; infections caused by intracellular bacteria such as Mycoplasma and Bartonella.
Dosage: 5-10mg/kg body weight, typically for 14-28 days depending on the infection being treated, or as directed by the vet - complete the full course even if symptoms improve.
Directions for use: Shake the bottle well before use. Give directly or mixed with food, at the same times each day.
How does the medicine work? :Β Doxycycline is effective against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, and penetrates well into cells and tissues, making it particularly useful for intracellular bacteria like Mycoplasma and Bartonella that are harder to treat with other antibiotics.
Possible side effects: Use with caution in pets with pre-existing liver, kidney, or gastrointestinal conditions - consult the vet before use if these are present.
