Frontline Combo is a monthly spot-on treatment for extra-large dogs (40-60kg) that kills fleas and ticks and breaks the flea life-cycle to prevent reinfestation, with waterproof protection even after bathing or swimming.
Composition: Fipronil 9.8% w/w (402mg per pipette) and (S)-Methoprene 8.8% w/w (361.8mg per pipette).
Indications: Flea infestations (Ctenocephalides spp.), alone or together with tick infestations (e.g., Rhipicephalus sanguineus, Ixodes spp., Dermacentor spp.) and biting/chewing lice.
Dosage: One 4.02ml pipette applied topically once a month, providing a minimum dose of approximately 6.7mg/kg fipronil and 6mg/kg (S)-methoprene for dogs over 40kg.
Directions for use: Part the coat at the base of the neck in front of the shoulder blades until the skin is visible, then apply the full pipette directly to the skin, avoiding broken skin or lesions.
How does the medicine work? : Fipronil binds to GABA-gated chloride channels in the parasite's nervous system, causing fatal overstimulation; (S)-methoprene mimics flea juvenile hormone, preventing eggs and larvae from maturing into adult fleas.
Possible side effects: Mild salivation if licked, or transient local skin reactions, are possible. Do not use on dogs under the minimum labelled age/weight. Do not use dog pipettes on cats.
