Himpyrin is a clinically tested herbal liquid that relieves pain, fever and inflammation in dogs and cats, commonly used following injury or surgery.
Composition: Zingiber officinale (Ginger), Cyperus rotundus, Acorus calamus (Sweet Flag/Vacha), Glycyrrhiza glabra (Licorice), Tinospora cordifolia (Guduchi).
Indications: Fever from various underlying causes; pain and inflammation, including after injury or surgery.
Dosage: Small-breed dogs: 1-2ml twice daily. Large-breed dogs: 2-3ml twice daily. Cats: 1ml twice daily. Dose can be adjusted by breed/severity or as directed by the vet.
Directions for use: Shake well before use. Give directly into the mouth or mix into food, twice daily.
How does the medicine work? : The herbal blend selectively inhibits COX-2 and blocks prostaglandin synthesis - the pathway responsible for pain, fever and inflammation - while also preventing the release of pain-signalling neurotransmitters.
Possible side effects: Generally well tolerated as a herbal formulation; no significant side effects commonly reported.
