Kiskin Lotion is a triple-action topical treatment combining a corticosteroid, antibiotic and antifungal, used for eczematous dermatosis complicated by bacterial and fungal infections, including otitis and certain wounds, in dogs and cats.
Composition: Clobetasol Propionate 0.025% w/v (corticosteroid), Ofloxacin 0.1% w/v (broad-spectrum antibiotic), Miconazole Nitrate 2.0% w/v (antifungal), Zinc Sulphate 3.0% w/v (astringent/antiseptic).
Indications: Eczematous dermatosis complicated by bacterial and fungal infections; ringworm and yeast infections; bacterial dermatitis; otitis; certain wounds, as diagnosed by the vet.
Dosage: As directed by the veterinarian - typically applied twice daily to the affected area.
Directions for use: Clean and dry the affected area before application. Apply a thin layer and gently massage in for better absorption.
How does the medicine work? : Miconazole blocks fungal ergosterol synthesis; ofloxacin inhibits bacterial DNA replication (topoisomerase IV/DNA gyrase); clobetasol reduces inflammation and itching by inhibiting the arachidonic acid pathway - together treating the fungal, bacterial and inflammatory components of complex skin infections in one product.
Possible side effects: This is a Schedule H prescription-strength corticosteroid combination - prolonged use can cause skin thinning and other steroid-related effects; use strictly as directed and avoid the eyes/mucous membranes.
