Kiskin Ointment is a triple-action topical cream combining a corticosteroid, antibiotic and antifungal, used for fungal, bacterial and inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis, pyoderma and hot spots in dogs and cats.
Composition: Clobetasol Propionate 0.025% w/w (corticosteroid), Ofloxacin 0.1% w/w (broad-spectrum antibiotic), Miconazole Nitrate 2.0% w/w (antifungal), Zinc Sulphate 3.0% w/w (astringent/antiseptic).
Indications: Eczematous dermatosis complicated by bacterial and fungal infections; pyoderma; hot spots; ringworm; allergic dermatitis; some autoimmune skin conditions (e.g., pemphigus), as advised by the vet.
Dosage: Apply a thin layer to the affected area 1-2 times daily, or as directed by the vet.
Directions for use: Clean and dry the affected area before application. Apply a thin layer and prevent the pet from licking it - use an Elizabethan collar if needed.
How does the medicine work? : Miconazole blocks fungal ergosterol synthesis; ofloxacin inhibits bacterial DNA replication; clobetasol interferes with the arachidonic acid pathway to reduce inflammation and itching - together treating mixed fungal/bacterial/inflammatory skin conditions.
Possible side effects: Schedule H prescription-strength corticosteroid combination - prolonged use can cause skin thinning; avoid the eyes and mucous membranes; discontinue and consult the vet if irritation worsens.
