Rinonadyl is a prebiotic renal supplement that uses a dialysis-encapsulated probiotic blend to help eliminate uremic toxins in the gut, supporting dogs and cats with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and azotemia.
Composition: Each delayed-release capsule contains Streptococcus thermophilus, Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium longum (15 billion CFU combined) plus Fructooligosaccharide (FOS) 25mg.
Indications: Chronic kidney disease (CKD); azotemia arising from CKD; management of uremic toxin build-up; supportive gut-kidney axis therapy for pets with compromised renal function.
Dosage: 1 capsule per 5kg body weight, before a meal (maximum 4 capsules/day for large dogs), or as directed by the vet.
Directions for use: Give the capsule whole, before a meal, as the delayed-release coating is designed to protect the probiotics through the stomach.
How does the medicine work? : The specific probiotic strains and FOS work in the gut to bind and help eliminate uremic toxins (via the 'gut-kidney axis'), reducing the toxin burden that the kidneys would otherwise need to filter, which is especially valuable in CKD where kidney filtration capacity is reduced.
Possible side effects:Β This is a supportive nutraceutical, not a replacement for vet-directed CKD management (renal diet, phosphate binders, fluid therapy) - use alongside, not instead of, prescribed treatment.
