Taclimus Eye Ointment is used to manage dry eye (Keratoconjunctivitis Sicca, KCS) in dogs, stimulating tear gland function and helping prevent further tissue destruction, particularly useful in cases resistant to Cyclosporine.
Composition: Tacrolimus 0.1% w/w in a sterile ointment base.
Indications: Keratoconjunctivitis Sicca (dry eye), especially in cases showing Cyclosporine resistance; immune-mediated eye conditions affecting tear production.
Dosage: Apply every 12 hours in the affected eye, or as directed by the vet. Duration depends on the condition and response to treatment.
Directions for use: Apply a thin layer of ointment into the affected eye every 12 hours, as directed by the vet.
How does the medicine work? : Tacrolimus (an immunosuppressant derived from Streptomyces tsukubaensis) stimulates the tear glands and prevents further immune-mediated destruction of tear-producing tissue, helping restore normal tear production in KCS.
Possible side effects:Β For ophthalmic use only in this formulation; do not self-medicate without veterinary guidance, as dosage and duration depend on the specific condition and response.
