L-Sametine is a SAMe-based syrup that supports neurological and cognitive function while also supporting liver health, used in senior pets with cognitive decline and in dogs/cats with anxiety, epilepsy or liver-related concerns.
Composition: Per 5ml: Methylcobalamin (Vitamin B12) 500mcg, S-Adenosyl Methionine (SAMe) 90mg, Omega-3 Fatty Acids 500mg, Vitamin B1 3mg, Vitamin B6 3mg, Folic Acid 150mcg, L-Carnitine 150mg, Selenium 75mcg, Magnesium Oxide 30mg.
Indications: Cognitive dysfunction and age-related brain decline in senior pets; supportive care for anxiety, aggression and epilepsy (as an adjunct, not a replacement for anticonvulsant medication); general neurological recovery; supportive liver health via SAMe.
Dosage: 1ml per 5kg body weight, twice daily with food, or as directed by the vet (some sources cite a simpler weight-tiered dose - confirm the current label before dispensing).
Directions for use: Give with food, twice daily.
How does the medicine work? : SAMe supports both neuronal methylation processes (linked to cognitive function) and liver detoxification pathways; methylcobalamin and folic acid support nerve cell function and DNA synthesis; Omega-3s provide neuronal membrane support - together addressing brain health and liver function.
Possible side effects: Generally well tolerated. Not established as safe in pregnant pets. Veterinary examination is recommended before starting, especially if being used for a neurological condition like epilepsy.
