Pancresolve provides enzyme replacement therapy for exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI) in dogs and cats, supplying the digestive enzymes their pancreas can no longer produce in adequate amounts, to restore normal digestion and nutrient absorption.
Composition: Each tablet contains a minimum of Lipase 18,000 USP Units, Protease 114,000 USP Units, and Amylase 128,000 USP Units.
Indications: Exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI); maldigestion and poor nutrient absorption despite good appetite; chronic pancreatitis with reduced enzyme output; unexplained weight loss with oily/fatty stools.
Dosage: Cats: 1/2 to 1 tablet before every meal. Small dogs: 1-2 tablets before every meal. Larger dogs: approximately 1 tablet per 15-20kg body weight, given 15 minutes before each meal, or as directed by the vet.
How does the medicine work?: Protease breaks down proteins into smaller polypeptides, lipase breaks down fats into monoglycerides and free fatty acids, and amylase breaks down carbohydrates into simple sugars - together replacing the enzymes a pancreatic-insufficient pet can no longer produce, restoring normal digestion.
Possible side effects: Oral bleeding has rarely been reported in dogs with EPI on enzyme supplementation, usually resolving once the dose is adjusted - monitor and report any bleeding to the vet.
