Visiocare is a cyclosporine eye ointment used to manage immune-mediated eye conditions such as Keratoconjunctivitis Sicca (dry eye) and chronic superficial keratitis (pannus), by locally suppressing the abnormal immune response affecting the tear glands and cornea.
Composition: Cyclosporine, formulated as an ophthalmic ointment.
Indications: Keratoconjunctivitis Sicca (KCS, dry eye); chronic superficial keratitis (CSK/pannus); allergic keratoconjunctivitis.
Dosage: As recommended by the vet - typically applied to the affected eye(s) once or twice daily.
Directions for use: Apply a thin line of ointment into the lower eyelid pocket, as directed by the vet.
How does the medicine work: Cyclosporine inhibits the release of interleukins that activate T-cells attacking the lacrimal gland in immune-mediated dry eye, allowing tear-gland function to normalise; it also increases tear production and reduces local inflammation in the cornea and tear gland.
Possible side effects: Mild, temporary irritation is possible on application. Long-term, consistent use is typically needed for chronic dry eye management.
