Pomisol is a four-way combination ear drop that treats acute and chronic otitis externa caused by bacteria and/or fungi, while reducing inflammation and providing local pain relief.
Composition: Ofloxacin IP 0.3% w/v (antibiotic), Clotrimazole IP 1.0% w/v (antifungal), Betamethasone Dipropionate IP 0.025% w/v (corticosteroid), and Lignocaine HCl IP 2.0% w/v (local anaesthetic), in a glycerin/propylene glycol base.
Indications: Acute and chronic otitis externa with bacterial and/or fungal involvement; itching, discomfort and excessive ear shaking associated with ear infections.
Dosage: Administer 8-10 drops in each ear once or twice daily, or as directed by the vet. Prescription required - use only as directed.
Directions for Use: Clean the ear gently before application. Instill the drops and massage the base of the ear to help distribute the medication. Do not discontinue early even if symptoms improve.
How does the medicine work?:Β Ofloxacin clears bacterial infection by blocking DNA replication; clotrimazole disrupts the fungal cell membrane; betamethasone reduces inflammation and itching; lignocaine provides immediate local pain relief - together addressing infection, inflammation and discomfort in one product.
Possible side effects: As a corticosteroid-containing product, prolonged use should be vet-monitored to avoid skin thinning in the ear canal. Do not use if the eardrum is ruptured.
