Seresto is a long-lasting collar that continuously releases low concentrations of two active ingredients over 8 months, killing and repelling both fleas and ticks by contact - so pests don't need to bite for the collar to work.
Composition: Imidacloprid 10% w/w and Flumethrin 4.5% w/w, embedded in a polymer matrix that slowly and continuously releases the actives onto the skin surface.
Indications: Flea infestation and prevention; tick infestation and prevention (including species that transmit Lyme disease and other tick-borne illness), for up to 8 months per collar.
Directions for use: Remove the collar from its packaging, unroll it, remove the plastic connectors from inside, then fit around the neck allowing 2 fingers of space, and trim excess length. Water-resistant - no need to remove for bathing or swimming, but avoid bathing more than once a month to maintain the full 8-month duration.
How does the medicine work? : Imidacloprid acts on the flea's central nervous system causing paralysis and death; flumethrin repels and kills ticks. Bayer's polymer matrix technology continuously replenishes both actives at the skin surface in low, steady concentrations over the full 8-month period, rather than a single high-dose burst.
Possible side effects: Not recommended for pregnant, nursing, debilitated or geriatric animals, or in puppies under 7 weeks of age. Temporary irritation at the site of contact is possible. Do not use in animals with known hypersensitivity to the actives.
