Lactol Puppy Milk Replacer is formulated to mimic maternal milk as closely as possible, providing essential nutrients including dextrose for quick energy in newborn or orphaned puppies, and as a complementary feed for lactating bitches or sick/recovering dogs.
Composition: Milk and milk derivatives, oils and fats, various sugars (Dextrose 3.0%), minerals, algae, and cereals, with added Vitamins A, B6, B12 and D.
Indications: Feeding orphaned or newborn puppies when maternal milk is unavailable or insufficient (e.g., large litters); complementary feeding for puppies below 8 weeks alongside mother's milk; supportive feeding for lactating bitches, or sick/convalescent dogs.
Dosage: Newborn puppies (250g body weight, days 2-14): 100ml/day across 6-8 feeds. As puppies grow, both volume and feed frequency are adjusted per the weight/age feeding table on the pack (up to 900ml/day for 5kg puppies at days 36-42). Weaned puppies over 8 weeks, or pregnant/lactating/sick adult dogs: approx. 11ml per kg body weight.
Directions for use: Using the scoop provided, mix the powder into warm water (allow boiled water to cool first, approx. 42°C) and stir until fully dissolved; cool to lukewarm (38°C/blood temperature) before feeding using a proper feeding bottle or syringe.
How does the medicine work? : The formula closely mimics canine maternal milk, with highly digestible proteins gentle on sensitive tummies and a quick-energy dextrose source, supporting healthy growth and immune function during the critical newborn period.
Possible side effects: Prepared Lactol can be refrigerated for 24 hours but must be reheated to blood temperature before feeding. Always follow the age/weight feeding table precisely.
