Ciclopet is a cyclosporine oral solution used to control chronic atopic dermatitis and other immune-mediated skin conditions in dogs and cats, under veterinary supervision.
Composition: Each ml contains 100mg Cyclosporine, an immunomodulator that reduces the number and activity of the immune cells driving allergic skin reactions.
Indications: Atopic dermatitis; other inflammatory or immune-mediated skin conditions; chronic allergy management; immune modulation support during post-surgical recovery, as advised by the vet.
Dosage: Typically around 5mg/kg body weight once daily, strictly as prescribed by the vet - dose may be tapered to alternate-day or twice-weekly dosing once symptoms are controlled.
Directions for use: Give at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal for best absorption, directly into the mouth or mixed with a small amount of food, using the dosing syringe provided.
How does the medicine work? : Cyclosporine dampens the activity of T-lymphocytes and other immune cells that trigger allergic inflammation, reducing itching and skin lesions over several weeks of use.
Possible side effects: Vomiting, diarrhoea or reduced appetite are the most commonly reported effects, usually mild. Longer-term immune modulation means pets on this medication should be monitored by the vet for infections.
