Opthocare M is a broad-spectrum antibiotic eye drop used to treat bacterial eye infections such as conjunctivitis and corneal ulcers in dogs and cats.
Composition: Moxifloxacin Hydrochloride 0.5% w/v, a fourth-generation fluoroquinolone antibiotic.
Indications: Bacterial eye infections, including conjunctivitis, corneal ulcers and general ocular bacterial infections.
Dosage: As recommended by the vet – typically 1-2 drops in the affected eye(s), 2-3 times daily.
Directions for Use: Gently pull down the lower eyelid and instil the drops into the conjunctival sac, avoiding contact between the dropper tip and the eye.
How does the medicine work?: Moxifloxacin inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, preventing bacterial DNA replication and killing a broad range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
Possible side effects: Generally well tolerated. Complete the full course as directed even if the eye appears to improve early.
