Diarest-M Gel neutralises excess stomach acid and reduces gas and bloating, providing relief from acidity, heartburn, and indigestion in dogs and cats, with an additional phosphate-binding benefit useful in kidney failure.
Composition: Each 5ml contains Dried Aluminium Hydroxide IP 250mg, Magnesium Hydroxide IP 250mg, and Simethicone IP 50mg, in a flavoured syrup base.
Indications: Acidity, heartburn and indigestion; bloating and excess gas; peptic ulcers; supportive use in pets with kidney failure, where aluminium hydroxide also helps reduce blood phosphate levels.
Dosage: 1-2 teaspoons (5-10ml) per 10kg body weight, 2-3 times daily, or as directed by the vet.
Directions for use: Shake well before use. Give directly into the mouth or mixed into food.
How does the medicine work? : Aluminium and magnesium hydroxide neutralise excess stomach acid, raising gastric pH and relieving irritation, while simethicone breaks down gas bubbles in the digestive tract, reducing bloating and discomfort; aluminium hydroxide additionally binds phosphate in the gut, useful for pets with reduced kidney function.
Possible side effects: Mild gastrointestinal upset or changes in stool consistency are possible. Rarely, allergic reactions can occur - discontinue and contact the vet if signs of allergy appear. Consult the vet before use if the pet has pre-existing health conditions or is on other medications.
