Otisoothe is formulated for the management of otitis, controlling fungal (including Malassezia) and bacterial ear infections while soothing itching and helping repair damaged skin in the ear canal.
Composition: Acetic Acid 1%, Boric Acid 2%, Hydrocortisone IP 1%, Ketoconazole USP 0.15%, and Ceramide Complex 50mg.
Indications: Otitis externa in dogs and cats; ear infections involving bacteria and/or fungi (including Malassezia species); itching and inflammation of the ear canal.
Dosage: Instill 5-10 drops into each ear after cleaning with an ear cleanser, twice daily for a week, or as recommended by the vet.
Directions for Use: Clean the ear first with an appropriate ear cleanser, then instill the drops and gently massage the base of the ear.
How does the medicine work? : Acetic and boric acid create an acidic, unfavourable environment for pathogens; ketoconazole clears fungal infection by disrupting the fungal cell membrane; hydrocortisone reduces inflammation and itching; ceramides help moisturise and repair damaged skin in the ear canal.
Possible side effects: Do not use if the eardrum is ruptured or perforated. Discontinue and consult the vet if irritation worsens.
