Renalof is a natural urinary supplement most often recommended for dogs and cats forming calcium oxalate crystals in the urinary tract, helping dissolve renal calculi, reduce painful urination, and prevent future stone formation.
Composition: Agropyron Repens (Couch Grass) Extract 0.36g, with Potassium Sorbate 0.3g and Potassium Benzoate 0.3g, in a liver-flavoured aqueous base, per 150ml.
Indications: Calcium oxalate crystal/stone formation in the urinary tract; painful urination (dysuria) linked to urinary stones; prophylactic use to help prevent recurrence of urinary calculi.
Dosage: 1ml per 5kg body weight, every 12 hours, or as recommended by the vet.
Directions for Use: Give directly or mixed into food, twice daily (every 12 hours).
How does the medicine work?: Couch grass extract has diuretic and mild anti-inflammatory properties, increasing urinary citrate (which helps prevent crystal formation) and promoting the gradual dissolution and flushing of existing urinary stones.
Possible side effects: Made mostly from natural ingredients with no known adverse side effects at the recommended dose; still, confirmed urinary stones should be diagnosed and monitored by the vet, as some stone types require different management.
