Introduction
Pedigree dog food is available in multiple formats and recipes, so the right choice depends on the individual dog rather than the brand name alone. Zigly's Pedigree collection includes adult dry foods, vegetarian options, meat-and-rice recipes and other Pedigree nutrition products.
Which Pedigree food is right for your dog?
Begin with age and life stage. A puppy needs a puppy-appropriate diet, while an adult dog generally needs an adult-maintenance formula. Then consider breed size, activity level and body condition.
Zigly's collection includes products for different needs, while Pedigree's own product catalogue also separates foods by age, breed size and type. Always read the exact product label before feeding.
Dry or wet Pedigree dog food?
Dry food is practical for routine feeding and easy portion control. Wet food offers a softer texture and additional moisture. Some households use wet food as part of a mixed feeding routine.
If you combine foods, remember that the calories from both count toward the dog's daily intake.
What about vegetarian Pedigree dog food?
Pedigree offers vegetarian dog-food options, including products positioned for puppies and adults. Whether a particular vegetarian formula is appropriate depends on the dog's life stage and overall nutritional adequacy. A dog with a medical condition or special nutritional requirement should be managed with veterinary guidance.
How much Pedigree should you feed?
Use the feeding guide on the specific pack as your starting point. Portion needs can vary with body size, activity, age and reproductive status. If your dog is gaining weight, do not automatically add exercise or change flavours without looking at the total calorie intake and treat consumption.
Changing to Pedigree dog food
When introducing a new food, transition gradually over several days. Watch stool consistency, appetite and overall behaviour. Sudden diet changes can cause digestive upset in some dogs.
If your dog has ongoing vomiting, diarrhoea, itching or another health issue, speak to your veterinarian rather than repeatedly changing foods.
